Negotiation and Influencing Skills. Our negotiation programs introduce a systematic framework for thinking about how people influence each other. Instructors break down the negotiation process into seven basic elements that are then used to help participants systematically prepare for, conduct and measure success in negotiation. The program culminates in customized, interactive case studies that give participants the opportunity to practice their skills within contexts meaningful to them.

Effective Communication Skills. In our Effective Communication Workshops participants will improve their ability to handle the conversations that they find most difficult. The instructors introduce systematic tools for understanding where communication typically goes wrong and for categorizing different communication styles. Participants will consider their own styles and work on techniques for handling those of others. Insight also offers industry-specific coursework designed to prepare participants for difficult conversations likely to occur as a result of the current down market.

Strategic Relationship Management Skills. These workshops provide a structured overview of how to manage relationships of strategic importance. In light of current economic factors, opportunities to optimize key client relationships and to collaborate with colleagues across functions should not be overlooked. At the heart of this programming is the premise that increased productivity and profitability are directly tied to an ability to improve and develop relationships. Our workshops introduce multiple relationship management tools and apply them to the most challenging situations that our participants face.

Conflict Management Skills. In this workshop conflict is defined and the costs and benefits of conflict are examined. This course emphasizes the development of “third perspective” skills to improve negotiation, communication, and mediation skills.

Negotiation and influencing skills

Negotiation and influencing skills

THE CORE OBJECTIVES OF THESE WORKSHOPS ARE TO:

Increase participant awareness of the pervasiveness of negotiation in their lives. We define negotiation as any situation where one person tries to influence another, whether inside a company, with outside companies, or in their personal lives. Busy people negotiate all the time, both professionally and personally, and even informal efforts to influence others can improve dramatically when viewed as “negotiations”.

Increase participant awareness of styles, processes, and tactics associated with challenging negotiation and communication situations. There are patterns to successful and unsuccessful negotiation and communication. These patterns have to do with how we think about and how we conduct negotiations. Learning to recognize them is an essential ingredient to improved results.

Introduce a systematic framework for thinking about and conducting negotiations. Through concepts, tools, and technology, we intend to help participants break down the negotiation process into a series of elements. These elements can then be used to help us systematically prepare for, conduct, and measure success in negotiations.

Give participants opportunities to assess and improve their skills. Increased awareness and a systematic framework are most valuable when tied directly to practical skill building. Using role-plays and group exercises, we challenge participants to examine their assumptions and strengthen their skills as negotiators.

Help participants connect their learning to their professional and personal challenges going forward. We hope to leave them with insights on how to apply theory and skills in practice by integrating real examples from the participants world and encouraging the development of personal learning plans.

Effective Communication Skills

Effective Communication Skills

THE CORE OBJECTIVES OF OUR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WORKSHOPS ARE TO:

Increase awareness of the role and importance of communication in our lives. Communication fuels business. Ineffective communication leads to increased errors, missed opportunities, reduced productivity, lower retention levels, and general employee dissatisfaction. Improved communication begins with awareness of common patterns and ways to work through them.

Introduce a systematic framework for making sense of effective communication. Effective communication is both an art and a science. To be studied, it needs to be understood. To be understood, it needs to be broken down. Over the course of the workshop, we break communication down into internal and external skills.

Develop skills to improve communication in a range of situations. Increased awareness and a framework for making sense of effective communication are of little benefit if we cannot translate the insights into skills. Throughout the workshop, we work on skills through exercises, case studies, client specific scenarios, and personal cases. The goal is to arm participants with increased confidence in their ability to improve their communication skills in both routine and challenging situations.

Help participants connect their learning to their professional and personal challenges going forward. We will leave them with insights on how to apply theory and skills in practice by integrating real examples from the participants’ world and encouraging the development of personal learning plans.

Strategic Relationship Management Skills

Strategic Relationship Management Skills

THE CORE OBJECTIVES OF OUR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WORKSHOPS ARE TO:

Increase participant awareness of the range of challenges affecting successful relationship management. This awareness building has two main components. First, we need to build participants’ awareness of their own relationship management strengths and challenges. Second, we need to teach participants to diagnose whether the relationship challenge is interpersonal, tactical, structural, or all three. Different challenges require different solutions.

Introduce a comprehensive framework for diagnosing, managing, and building strategic relationships. Comprised of a series of tools, this framework allows participants to make sense of relationship challenges, regardless of how complex. Building upon our Harvard-developed negotiation methodology, we introduce tools to manage interpersonal, tactical, and structural relationship challenges. These tools provide the foundation for developing effective relationship management skills.

Introduce a comprehensive framework for diagnosing, managing, and building strategic relationships. We maximize the value of increased awareness and a systematic framework by tying them directly to practical skill building. Using a wide range of role-plays and group exercises, we challenge participants to examine their assumptions and strengthen their skills in dealing with their toughest and most strategic relationship management situations.

Help participants connect their learning to their professional and personal challenges going forward. This is not a study of relationships at arm’s length. We hope to leave participants with insights on how to directly apply theory and skills by integrating real examples from the participants’ world and encouraging the development of personal learning plans.

Conflict Management Skills

Conflict Management Skills

THE CORE OBJECTIVES OF OUR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WORKSHOPS ARE TO:

Increase awareness of the role and importance of conflict management in our lives. Conflict is inevitable. Ineffectively managing conflict harms relationships and leads to missed opportunities, reduced productivity, lower retention levels, and general employee dissatisfaction. Improved conflict management begins with an awareness of common conflict dynamics and ways to work through them.

Increase awareness of behavioral tendencies and styles associated with conflict management.Learning to recognize the patterns and modes of behavior associated with how we think and act in conflict is an essential ingredient to improved results.

Introduce a systematic framework for improving conflict management. Through a combination of concepts and learning tools, we help participants break down the conflict management process into a series of critical factors. These factors can then be used to help participants systematically prepare for, conduct, and manage conflict.

Provide participants with opportunities to assess and improve their skills. Increased awareness and a systematic framework are most valuable when tied directly to practical skill building. Throughout the workshop, skills are developed through exercises, personal cases, and case studies. Specific topics addressed include improving the skills of empathy and assertiveness, making the shift from positions to interests to options, and recognizing and handling a wide range of conflict management styles.

Help participants connect their learning to their professional and personal challenges going forward. We will leave participants with insights on how to apply theory and skills in practice by integrating real examples from the participants’ world and encouraging the development of personal learning plans.
